At the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP30 held in Dubai in early December, seminars were held every day at the Japan Pavilion.
Among them a seminar on forests name d "Sustainable Forest Management for the Mitigation and
Adaptation against Climate Change" was held and the materials was made available to the public, so I would like to introduce them.
The introducing message is as follows
-----
Forest is the largest sink for greenhouse gases except for the oceans.
Sustainable forest management and sustainable wood use as carbon-sink or
renewable energy can contribute to climate change mitigation. Japan has
restored its devastated postwar forests to one of the highest forest coverage
in the world, and continues to support developing countries' efforts against
deforestation based on past experience. This seminar will welcome four
presentations and explore ways to promote both mitigation and adaptation
through forestry activities in developing countries.
